Context
Was approached by the owners of Grills n' Grains, a restaurant opening up in Essex, to design their logo and menu. The brief was to design the logo and menu for their African-inspired casual restaurant.
The additional challenge was to create the menu in Canva, (my usual software for such tasks being Illustrator and InDesign), allowing the clients to quickly make their own changes in a software they were comfortable with.

Identity
Grills n' Grains positions itself as a casual African restaurant, much in the same ballpark as Nando's or Vapiano. This, for me, led to an identity that was both bold and playful. The hand-drawn logo is purposefully imperfect and is based on stylised versions of the letter G from the Yoruba Oduduwa alphabet. Both G's reflect 'Grills' and 'Grains' through their distinct shape and our accented with a symbol to further highlight their function and to add some flair. They can also both be used as patterns for collateral.
Palette
The colour palette needed to reflect the cuisine. To do this, colours were chosen based on earthy tones and fresh ingredients.
