This report was part of my 5th Year work at University. As a group of students we were tasked with proposing a solution to pedestrianise King's Street in Aberdeen. I volunteered to lead the design and layout of the report.
Development
To begin with, I created a set of rules and regulations that the group would follow. This covered typography as well as the colour palette and other assets. Doing this made it easier to organise the many many files that I would end up dealing with.
The next thing I did was work on some mock layouts. The initial idea was to create a layout akin to a magazine (portrait orientation) with pull quotes and captions. This would differentiate the design from a standard report and make it less monotonous to read.
Final Layout
The final layout became landscape in orientation and replaced the grey background with a white background to make the text stand out. Each chapter was accented with a colour from the original palette and pull quotes were used to add interest and highlight important information.
